Incorporating technology into the line of education businesses is a long and widely debated topic about it’s efficiency.
Here is something that I see really often, which I probably would like to shed some light on it; well, if some educational institutions read my post regarding this particular subject.
As you can see from the above diagram, it seems like there’s a clear problem between the students and schools.
And the problem is actually quite simple to understand ..
The school is not in touch with students, feedback channels are ineffective (no one fills up feedback forms anymore, I would rather tell my friend what’s wrong than opposed to filling up a feedback form) and problems are not solved timely. Yet the communication channels between most schools only happen 1 way (From the management to the students). Schools do not tap into the high resource social media and actually, that’s not really a problem.
The bigger problem lies at the curriculum, it does not sync in with much of the education system (we have been using books and highlighters to study and many educators swear by it, it ought to be effective, isn’t it).
Most people still do not have faith and trust in using Information Technology in education, in fear of adaptation and results. It’s honestly true and management must be able to convince it’s educators to trust that IT is the future and our next generation of students would tap into the wealth of information, online.
The Education System must be able to revolutionize itself and be able to adapt to the next generation and wave of technology, where students do not slog and carry any textbooks or do any kind of tests and exams on paper, where everything is digital and easily monitored.
The vision is still far, but in my blatantly honest tone, many people are watching the trend develop, but not much people are committing real action into this.
There must be a reform in how educational institutions think and how education can revolve around the use of Information Technology (or being fully integrated in), where its a vital skill which the world could not live without right now.
