I’m back with my long vacation break and I am here to share with you some interesting images and stuff that I did and ate during Chinese New Year. This definitely will not represent what Chinese eat as globalisation is taking place at the moment and there are many varieties of cultural food that we eat which others don’t.

However the most ironic thing that happen during the Chinese New Year season is the rain! The rainpour before the new year was so strong that it caused flooding in multiple low lying areas. Bang! No rain, during Chinese New Year!

Love the bubble tea during lunch at my workplace – Singapore Business Federation. They have like 2 stores selling Bubble Tea.

One common tradition we do in the Chinese society only here in Singapore is what we call as “Yu Sheng”, it is to represent that year after year, we would rise up and be stronger every single year.

We are given a bunch of prosperity foodstuff being put together and some raw fish to go with it.

And than we use our chopsticks and raise all the prosperity items all the way higher and higher – Which means that after every year, we will do better.

After the entire process which takes about 10 mins, we could eat the items which would be all messed up.

My organisation which I am working with at the moment had a great Chinese New Year catered Lunch and I wish to share some interesting photos with you.

It’s Rice with a taint of Pineapple flavour, followed by dried and fried Laksa noodles, Broccoli and Mushrooms, fresh prawns and prawn flavoured balls.

Stewed beef, Salmon fish with Mushroom cream, Paper wrapped chicken and Scallops with cereal coating.

Prawn roll with Spring Roll. (Top) and Sliced Ham (Bottom)

And than on top of that we have lots of Sushi and salads with some Vegetarian packed meal.

Moving on to the Chinese New Year reunion dinner, as no one bothered to really cook. Festive season, come on! We used a Malay-based catering service as they are the only guys who are open during the new year!

From left to right.
Bee Hoon, Egg Tofu, Samosa and Fried Chicken, Chicken Curry.

Malay Curry Vegetables (Lemak), Fried Fish with onions, mixed vegetables, Egg Roll and stewed mushrooms.
(The egg roll and mushrooms is what we cooked in house.)
There’s also almond and longan desert which is not taken in the photo.
How did you enjoyed your lunar new year?
I want to hear from you!
