I was listening to many podcasts this morning about how to improve communication skills and I run past this blog post about Asians and Westerners, love it’s explanation and visual graphics!
In fact the graphics seems to be more attractive and more visually explanative and you can somehow guess it before reading the text!

After doing a surveying other pages, this blog actually holds the most complete series of the entire differences between Asians and Westerners (As compared to other sites, which have it too), however, if I do leave anything out, contact me.
(1) Opinion
Westerners (Blue): Talk to the point.
Asians (Red): Talk around the circle, especially if opinions are different
(2) Way of Life
Westerners (Blue): individualism, think of himself or herself.
Asians (Red): enjoy gathering with family and friends and know each other’s bloody business.
(3) Punctuality
Westerners (Blue): arrive on time.
Asians (Red) : arrive…in time.
(4) Contacts
Westerners (Blue): Contact to related person only.
Asians (Red): Contact everyone everywhere and cc to the whole world.
(5) Anger
Westerners (Blue): Show that I am angry.
Asians (Red): I am angry, but still smiling… (Beware!)
(6) Queue when Waiting
Westerners (Blue): Queuing in an orderly manner.
Asians (Red): Queuing?! What’s that?
(7) Sundays on the Road

Westerners (Blue): Enjoy weekend relaxing peacefully.
Asians (Red): Enjoy weekend in crowded places like the mall, or spend hours looking for parking.
(8) Party
Westerners (Blue): Only gather with their own group.
Asians (Red): All focus on the one activity that is hosted by the CEO.
(9) In the restaurant
Westerners (Blue): Talk softly and gently in the restaurant.
Asians (Red): Talk and laugh loudly until everyone can hear.
(10) Travelling
Westerners (Blue): Love sightseeing and enjoy the scenery.
Asians (Red): Taking picture is the most important; scenery is just for the background of the picture!
(11) Handling of Problems
Westerners (Blue): Take any steps to solve the problems.
Asians (Red): avoid conflicts is more important than solving problems.
(12) Three meals a day
Westerners (Blue): Two good meals is sufficient, usually heavy breakfast and light dinner.
Asians (Red): At least 3 meals a day plus a 4th bonus: SUPPER before sleep.
(13) Transportation
Westerners (Blue): Before drove cars, now cycling for environmental protection.
Asians (Red): Before no money and rode bikes, now got money to show off cars.
(14) Elderly in day-to-day life
Westerners (Blue): When old, there is Snoopy for companionship.
Asians (Red): When old, companionship means interfering in grandkids’ upbringing.
(15) Moods and Weather
Westerners (Blue): The logic is: rain means no outdoor activities.
Asians (Red): More rain, more prosperity.
(16) The Boss
Westerners (Blue): The boss is part of the team.
Asians (Red): The boss is the Dragon King.
(17) What’s Trendy
Westerners (Blue): Eat healthy Asian cuisine.
Asians (Red): Eat expensive cholesterol-laden western cuisine.
(18) The Child
Westerners (Blue): The kid is going to be independent and make his/her own living.
Asians (Red): Interfere in kids’ life even after they are married with grand-children.
(19) The Shower
Westerners (Blue): Water’s the best in the day!
Asians (Red): Before going to bed showers is the best!
(20) Daily Meals
Westerners (Blue): Cold and hot meals in a day
Asians (Red): Everything must be hot! Hot is fresh!
(21) Definition of Sexy
Westerners (Blue): Some parts.
Asians (Red): Except those parts.
(22) Stomach ache
Westerners (Blue): Over Wine!
Asians (Red): Over Tea!
(23) Self and Others / Self Respect
Westerners (Blue): Me First!
Asians (Red): People first than me!
(24) New Things
Westerners (Blue): Interesting, but I don’t think I’ll get it, unless useful.
Asians (Red): Do you say new? I want it, now. Maybe, I’ll use it someday.
(25) Perception of other’s culture
Westerners (Blue): I think Asians like .. tea, rice .. and stuff.
Asians (Red): Westerners? Beer, Hotdogs ..
