I have been thinking about something lately. Sometimes, this thought really strikes me about the quality of life.
I have a friend and the parents has been extremely tight to the daughter. Lets put it in this way, the parents usually used to restrict her in using the PC, and among many other stuff.
In my point of view, No parents should restrict their childs or daughters on using the internet, as internet provide users with universal access to information and there are more and more e-services and commerce which is done online.
Tell me something which is not on the internet yet!
I have also known about countries blocking internet materials to citizens (China Blocking Facebook)
Because of the open nature of Facebook, several countries have banned access to it including Syria,China,Iran,Vietnam,
Africa and Middle East (Wikipedia)
All these types of Social Networks and media should not be blocked as it will prevent and cause inconvinience to many users communicating through the internet, especially friends which is living in different countries and timezones.
So back to my friend, as much as the parents tried to stop the daughter from using the computer, the harder she tried to gain access to it. The reason why I came to know about it was, she was actually pleading for help when her parents had a password on the computer and the parents said nothing about it.
I obviously managed to bypass the encryption the parents had done to the computer and tried many other ways to assist into ‘cracking the password code’.
However, years passed and the parents seemed to be more well informed about the internet and how technologies is meant to be ‘open’ and ‘easily accessible’. The parents has been really easy with her accessing the internet on the computer and the parents bought her a laptop.
A few days ago, we finally kept in touch and she actually told me that the computer is actually pretty boring now and there is nothing much to do on it anyway.
So as time changes, demands changes and once a wish has been fulfilled, many wishes for greater things will pop up in a matter of time.
That in turn, will create an economy of people, buying and selling goods and trading of items with one common goal – to possess more materials.
