You guessed it! I am at National Library’s Board Multimedia station. I used it pretty often and its a great resource to the public! It provides low surfing rates to the internet and it provides a printer, which you can print out documents at 30 cents per page (side).

However, I have some problems with the terminal. In my opinion, the computer is pretty slow and its a little lag.

I cant pretty blame it as it is running Windows XP Embedded Edition. Probably it should upgrade to the newer : Windows Embedded Standard 2009. The reason why I think they should deserve a upgrade is because of new website standards, many people have already used Internet Explorer 8, where it is still on Internet Explorer 6 and many sites is unable to support IE6 anymore as its an obsolute piece of software in the industry. NLB might wish to conside Mozilla Firefox / Opera or simply just upgrading to IE8.

Well, its a great public resource and we should treasure it! I applaud National Libary’s Board move when they increased the number of multimedia terminals and added a sign that says ” This sits are for multimedia users only ”
However, my point is, in this current generation I felt there is a need to upgrade the computers in the libary in order to keep up with the current generation of online resources and multimedia.
