- DAY 1 -
See², an annual conference held in Hwa Chong Institution in partnership with Nanyang Girls High School in its fourth iteration this year, serves as a platform for student leaders in computing to brainstorm ideas for the transformation of their clubs. Involving over 150 participants from computing clubs of secondary schools all over Singapore, See² aims to revolutionise the local computing scene, one step at a time.

Let me start it off, I volunteered to be a facilitator in See² sometime back and well, here I am, with a great team and working with great people, all over Singapore.
Alright, so here is my group, Group 2 of this year’s See² 2009! Before I begin dumping photos and explaining what everything is about. I would like to thank some people for helping us in this. Firstly, I would like to thank Benjamin from Hwa Chong, which is my co-facilitator, without him, I think I will be somehow lost and crippled in Hwa Chong with a school compound that big.
Secondly, I would like to thank the OT’s (Or the HOT [Hip Organising Team] as them like to be called) for organising this platform to start with.
Thirdly, I would like to thank Phang Zi Tian and Jiakun for overseeing this event.
Lastly, Bradford, Ian and Eisabess, without you 3, I wouldn’t be there in the first place!

Thats all for the bio, lets get cracking!
DAY 1
–
![]()
Every single morning, for the last 3 days, I visit this location! HCI!
![]()
On the very first day, when I walked in, we had our early morning briefing which is basically about what we have to do!
After that, we had our mingle mingle session where everyone just sits together to — talk!
![]()
Students from schools all over Singapore, some as far as Tanjong Katong, and some as near from Hong Kah, strolled into the venue.
![]()
The speaker starts his opening address and thats how it flows.
![]()
After the session inside has finshed, basically with all the top level guests, we had our first meal at Hwa Chong, right outside the Lecture Theatre!
![]()
Thats our first meal.

After finshing our breakfast, we started some ice breaking games and try to learn more of each and everyone in the team. SO the first game we started off, which was quite, anti-climax, was musical chairs.

Soon after, we combined with Group 1 to play double whacko. Which was pretty fun and wait, we won right? We made group 1 facilitators feed each other for lunch!
–
![]()
Yup, lunch!
![]()
After lunch, we headed back to our air conditioned classroom and here is our task – Come out with a proposal with the theme : Reaching Out. To me, this sounds like a Community Involvement Project, or more you can put it in, Service Learning.

Before we begin, we wrote down the faults of our individual Infocomm Clubs.
We also came out with a rough idea of a proposal (Which I didn’t take any photos for now, yet)

There was this weird website.

After all in the day’s work, here comes, MASS GAMES!
![]()
We sitted in groups and get ready for instructions.
In our groups, we divided ourselves into ODD and EVEN groups, basically what it meant was, Group 1,3,5,7,9 is in this big group called ODD, where Group 2,4,6,8,10 is in this group called EVEN.
So here is the deal, ODD versus EVEN.

We played many games, which I didn’t take photos of, however, this is one game, which they give you a straw and one straw can only hold one rubber band. The aim of this game is to pass the rubber band to the last person. If you drop the straw, your straw gets cut into half, thus making it harder to pass to the next person.
![]()
You have to imagine how hard the last person feels after getting all the rubber bands to her.
![]()
You get the general idea right, this are the 2 heroes which contain all the straws in the mouth.
![]()
We also played street soccer, but in arcade form.
Thats all for Day 1 of See² 2009.
Cheers.
