If you do not know, JeremyGohBlog.com and www.ctpod.net is down between 11pm till 2pm because of a major Hard-Disk ( Data ) failure in the server, which host all my files for my blog.
So I am going to recount all the events which happened during this 2 days of Operations:
At 14/2/2009
11pm – Found out my blog is lagging
11.30pm – WordPress informed me that some components could not be accessed and changed, on top of that, the major components could not be updated
11.45pm – Self Troubleshoot the problem, I found the problem is because of permissions of the system
15/2/2009
1.01am – Immediately sent an email to SingHost for support.
1.10am – Received a reply that simply tells me, dont touch the settings.
1.21am – Sent back a reply, ” Last time, this problem does not exist, now this is causing me trouble, have you guys installed additional stuff? ”
1.35am – Received a reply saying ‘ No, the server is unchanged, it has been like this all the while, dont touch the settings as it will compromise the server’s security ‘
1.36am – Sent back a reply, ‘ I will try to work with your new Server’s Settings ‘
2.30am – Received a reply, ‘ I just found the server that is hosting your account, is having hard disk problem. We are trying to fix now ‘
3am – Server was down due to disk controller. A team was dispatched to Datacenter at QALA.
5:15am – Replacement server was installed to replace the faulty one.
5am onwards – Server Files and Settings is restored one by one.
10.30am – Called SingHost and talked to the Support Team
11am – 60 accounts on the server is restored.
Received a email – 11:36 AM
Data was corrupted due to Raid card failure and hard drives are out of sync. However, we still have all backups. At 5:15am, our tech team finished the new server installation for replacement. Our engineers are still trying to restore account one by one.
1pm – 81 accounts restored.
1:45pm – 87 accounts restored, 3 more to go.
2pm – JeremyGohBlog.com and Ctpod.net is found to be working.
3:20pm – All acounts on the Server, SG5 is found to be working.

Basically, Those people who tagged my blog on 14/2/09 will have their tags magically disappear because SingHost used a backup a day ago.

I sent back an email to SingHost to applaud them for their fast response and Customer Support
Hello Cliff and Team,
I would like to give my heartfelt Thanks for putting so much effort into the fix for the SG5 Server and to work tirelessly the whole night to fix the issue at QALA.
To add on, the response I got last night was so fast, I sent a support ticket for less than 10 mins and I got a reply instantly. Its as though like you guys are still working during the working hours. Even though it was 2am, you guys still kept your promise to your clients, this shows that SingHost has very high integrity in what they do.
If I would have used back my old hosting, they will not even bother to work during the weekends and replies usually come back in 3 working days.
Thumbs up to SingHost and the Customer Support was awesome.
Thanks,
Jeremy,
